Investigation of Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone, Growth Hormone and Prolactin Hormone Gene Polymorphism in Anatolian Water Buffalo

Abstract: the purpose of this work was to identify ghrh, gh and prl gene polymorphisms in anatolian water buffalo by means of the pcr-rflp method. a total of 126 buffalo were included in this study. PCR amplification gave a 451 bp band for the GHRH gene, a 221 bp band for the GH gene and a 156 bp band for the PRL gene. The PCR products were digested by HaeIII for the ghrh gene, AluI for the gh gene and RsaI for the prl gene. the gh/AluI and prl/RsaI polymorphisms were found to be polymorphic, while the ghrh/HaeIII polym… Show more

“…If it does not meet the criteria, the gene is monomorphic (Figures 4 and 5). Genetic diversity in a population can be used as a parameter in studying population genetics and evolution (Szatkowska et al 2009;Konca and Akyuz 2017). In addition, it can also be used to identify and preserve individuals in the population associated with special characters.…”

“…In another study conducted on 126 Anatolian water buffaloes in Turkey, GH gene polymorphisms were determined as LL (75.5%), VV (1.7%), and LV (22.8%) genotypes, and the L allele frequency was reported as 87% (Konca and Akyüz, 2017). In this study, more animals were used, but the VV genotype was not determined.…”

“…Polymorphism investigations in both cattle and water buffalo breeds were carried out for PRL exons. There are studies for exon 3 (Mitra et al, 1995;Kaplan and Boztepe, 2000;Alipanah et al, 2007;Kumari et al, 2008;Biradar et al, 2014;Konca and Akyüz, 2017) and for exon 1 (Ladani et al, 2003b;Madnalwar et al, 2010). However, PRL exon 3 has been the most extensively studied.…”

“…Up to this point, only the HaeIII RE is used for digesting the PRL exon 1. There are only two previous studies conducted with Anatolian water buffalo breed for PRL gene polymorphisms and only exon 3 was investigated (Kaplan and Boztepe, 2000;Konca and Akyüz, 2017).…”
