Investigation of DNA‐Binding Activities of Zinc(II) and Cobalt(II) Phthalocyanine Compounds with 3,4,5‐Trimethoxybenzyloxy Substituents

Abstract: In this study, DNA‐binding activities of previously synthesized tetrakis(3,4,5‐trimethoxybenzyloxy)‐substituted Zn(II) and Co(II) phthalocyanines (Pc4 and Pc5) have been chosen for the study. The interaction of synthesized tetrakis(3,4,5‐trimethoxybenzyloxy)‐substituted Zn(II) and Co(II) phthalocyanine compounds with CT‐DNA was investigated by using UV/Vis titrimetric method, fluorescence spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, thermal denaturation profile, gel electrophoresis and viscosty measurement in a Tris‐HCI … Show more

“…It has the advantages of high sensitivity and good selectivity . If the complexes intercalate with DNA, the complexes compete with EtBr to bind to DNA, thus releasing EtBrs, which reduces the fluorescence intensity of the EtBr‐DNA system . The form of action can be simplified into the following formula: M + EtBr·DNA = M·DNA + EtBr (M for complexes).…”

“…The gel electrophoresis experiments were recorded at 80 V during 3 h in the buffer solution (TBE) and the bands of the DNA were photographed using a BioRad system. In this method, the measurements were carried out with a Thermo Scientific gel electrophoresis system [29][30][31][32].…”

“…Agarose gel electrophoresis experiments were conducted at 80 volts during 3 hours in the buffer solution, and the CT-DNA bands were then monitorized with a UV lamp. Agarose gel electrophoresis system from Thermo Scientific Owl company was used for this study [27][28][29][30][31].…”
