Objective:To analyze the effectiveness of an educational intervention with mothers to stimulate children under two years of age at risk for neuropsychomotor development.Method:Before-after intervention study, conducted with 52 mothers of children under two years old, enrolled in reference centers in early childhood education. Initially, maternal knowledge regarding child development and stimulation was assessed through a structured instrument. Then, workshops were held with the mothers and, after three months, maternal knowledge was revised, reapplying the data collection instrument. In the analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics were used, applying the McNemar and Wilcoxon tests and the Rasch Model from the Item Response Theory.Results:after the intervention, there was a significant increase in scores regarding the following aspects: knowledge of mothers about child development and stimulation from 5.77 ± 1.85 to 18.60 ± 1.94 (p <0.001); reduction of the maternal difficulty index in answering the instrument questions from 1.17 ± 0.57 to -1.98 ± 1.63 (p 0.01).Conclusion:the educational intervention contributed to the improvement of maternal knowledge regarding the development and forms of child stimulation, corroborating the importance of this action to advance the health of children at risk under maternal care at home.

Brazil has made a wide development and contribution in the field of Public Health. These contributions have maximized public health decision-making, which is a factor of great importance for the maintenance of health of a given population, either in the prevention of disease, as is the case of immunizations or with actions in Health Promotion, improving the quality of life of the affected population. Thus, the Journal of Human Growth and Development has contributed enormously to the dissemination of knowledge, not only in Brazil but also in the world making a major effort with its publications in English which is the preferred language of the modern scientific world. It was evidenced the importance of research in the investigation of better ways to obtain the public health of a given community, bringing discussion of themes that involve aspects of human growth and development such as nutritional aspects, sexuality, motor development, covering situations and diseases as obesity, cerebral palsy, dyslexia and violence. The Journal of Human Growth and Development has maintained the tradition of approaching the different aspects that involve clinical practice for people and for Public Health.

Objetivou-se revisar sistematicamente a literatura sobre os programas de intervenção precoce e os impactos no desenvolvimento de crianças com Síndrome Congênita do Zika vírus (SCZ). Seguindo as recomendações PRISMA, os artigos foram coletados em outubro de 2020 nas bases de dados: PubMed, SciELO, LILACS, SCOPUS, Web of Science, EMBASE, PsycINFO, CINHAL, utilizando os termos MeSH “zika virus infection”, “early educational intervention”, “rehabilitation”, “child development”, “infant” e “child”, além dos sinônimos/palavras-chave correspondentes combinados entre si por meio do operador “OR”. O operador “AND” interligou as estratégias. Incluíram-se 04 estudos e identificados os programas de intervenção precoce: treinamento intensivo fisioterapêutico com traje terapêutico, programa baseado no protocolo GAME, e terapia convencional multidisciplinar. Estes estudos evidenciaram comprometimento do desenvolvimento motor e cognitivo, estabilização ou pouca melhora nas habilidades motoras e desempenho funcional de crianças com SCZ, mesmo após essas intervenções. O programa baseado no protocolo GAME evidenciou impactos positivos sobre a participação da família no cuidado prestado aos lactentes com SCZ. Observa-se carência de estudos acerca dos programas de intervenção precoce em crianças com SCZ, impossibilitando inferir sobre programas adequados ou de maior eficiência, embora note-se impactos positivos nas habilidades motoras e na participação da família no cuidado prestado. Vislumbra-se a necessidade de desenvolver novos programas de intervenção precoce que proporcionem impactos positivos para o desenvolvimento dessa população.
