Aim This study examines the transcultural adaptation and the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of Perroca's Patient Classification Instrument. Background Nurse managers need valid and reliable patient classification tools for determining patients' acuity or dependency levels on nursing care for measuring nursing workloads. Methods This study was conducted in two stages in a private hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. First, the instrument was translated, and its content validation was analysed. In the second stage, data were gathered from 300 hospitalized patients and were analysed by factor analyses, Cronbach's alpha and Cohen's kappa. Results Validity testing with ten experts revealed a scale‐content validity index of 0.93. Exploratory factor analysis revealed a two‐dimensional instrument with distinct factor loadings and a variance of 66.97%. The confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the fit indices were satisfactory. This instrument had an overall Cronbach's alpha coefficient of .86 and Cohen's kappa coefficient of .826. Conclusion The study provides evidence that the Turkish version of Perroca's Patient Classification Instrument is a valid and reliable tool to determine patients' acuity levels on nursing care. Implications for Nursing Management This instrument may be used by nurse managers to determine acuity levels of patients and measure nursing workload.

Turkish Adaptation of Change Fatigue Scale: A Study of Reliability and Validity

This study adapts "Change Fatigue Scale" into Turkish cultural context for potential uses in future empirical studies. It also aims to validate it for educational organizations, so the items were revised accordingly. There were three different study groups in the study. The first group included 33 English teachers and there were 150 teachers in the second and third study groups. First of all, a rigorous language adaptation process was carried out. Achieving language equivalency of the scale, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to test the construct validity. As for reliability, Cronbach's Alpha coefficient and items statistics were calculated. The findings showed that change fatigue scale had adequate psychometric properties when adapted into Turkish. A substantial theoretical contribution to the literature holds the significance of the current study. Additionally, the scale adapted into Turkish culture can be used in empirical studies in future and it can be a reference for further scale development efforts which can be regarded as the practical significance. The studies on change related constructs, organizational commitment, turn over intention, resilience and performance etc. can exploit the scale.

Bu çalışma Doğum Öncesi Bakım Memnuniyet Ölçeği'nin Türkçe versiyonunun geçerliliği ve güvenilirliğini değerlendirmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Bu metodolojik çalışma 334 gebe ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Dil geçerliliğinde test etmek amacıyla çeviri/tekrar çeviri yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Ölçeğin geçerliliği uzman görüşü ve yapı geçerliliği ile değerlendirilmiştir. Ölçeğin güvenilirliğini değerlendirmek amacıyla Cronbach alfa katsayısı hesaplanmıştır. Madde toplam korelasyon ve %27'lik alt grup üst grup karşılaştırması yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Ölçeğin toplam cronbach alfa değeri 0,875, madde toplam korelasyon değerleri 0.39 ve 0.64 arasında bulunmuştur. Üst %27 grubunun toplam ve alt boyut puanları, alt %27 grubunun ve üst boyut puanlarından yüksek bulunmuştur (t(178)=-22,622; p=0,000<0,05). Birinci düzey dogrulayıcı faktör analizi neticesinde elde edilen uyum iyiliği değerleri (p< 0,01;x 2 /sd=3.04;75; RMSEA=0.07; CFI=.92; GFI=.91) önerilen beş faktörlü modelin veri ile uyumlu kabul edilebilir olduğunu göstermektedir. Sonuç: Çalışmanın sonuçları, Doğum Öncesi Bakım Memnuniyet Ölçeği Türkçe versiyonunun, gebelerin doğum öncesi bakım memnuniyetini belirlemek amacıyla kullanılabilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğunu göstermektedir.
