Interação de Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch.) Sorok., Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. e o parasitóide Oomyzus sokolowskii (Kurdjumov) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) sobre larvas da traça-das-crucíferas, Plutella xylostella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae)

Abstract: -Chemical insecticides are broadly applied to control diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.). Diamondback moth is a major pest of cruciferous worldwide, and resistance of this pest to insecticide has been often reported. Thus, this research investigated the interactions among the fungi Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch.) Sorok., Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill., and the larvalpupal parasitoid Oomyzus sokolowskii (Kurdjumov) before and after application of the fungi on DBM larvae offered to the parasitoid. Th… Show more

“…25 However, assays of compatibility are required before specific agents can be used in joint applications, as inappropriate combinations of EPFs and parasitoids can produce antagonistic effects that could potentially reduce biocontrol efficacy. 60,61 Although T. dendrolimi emergence from B. bassiana-infected eggs was reduced in the present study, the parasitism efficiency of the resulting females was not different from those emerging from control eggs, nor was their fitness in terms of progeny number and sex ratio. Adult T. dendrolimi emerging from host eggs treated with B. bassiana spores each carried ca.…”

“…Concurrent use of these fungi and parasitoids might work in a synergistic or antagonistic manner (Roy and Cottrell 2008) to enhance control D. saccharalis , but further research is required to clarify the nature of their interactions when co-occurring in the same host (Santos et al . 2006; Rossoni et al . 2014a, 2014b; Ibrahim 2015).…”

This fact motivated us to investigate whether B. bassiana and M. anisopliae compromise the development of P. elaeisis, T. howardi, and T. diatraeae in pupae of D. saccharalis.…”

“…Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (2012) The family Eulophidae has natural enemies and is used in many cultures (Santos Junior et al 2006) to control pest populations (Leite et al 2006, Doganlar and (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), Thyrinteina arnobia (Stoll) (Lepidoptera: Geometridae) (Bittencourt andBerti Filho 2004, Pereira et al 2008) and Tenebrio molitor L.
