Abstract: Objective: To identify the instruments used to evaluate the professional nursing practice environments in the hospital context. Method: An integrative review, whose research process was conducted independently by two researchers in the period from July to August 2019 in the CINHAL, PubMed and SciELO databases. “…In the subscale Structure, factorability of the correlation matrix was very good and the factor analysis using principal components with Kaiser rule pointed to a 6‐factor solution, explaining 62.6% of total variance. The resulting factor structure corresponded appropriately to the theoretical component (Ribeiro, Vicente, Martins, Vandresen, et al., 2020; Wei et al., 2018) consisting of the factors ‘people management and service leadership’, ‘Physical environment and conditions for service running’, ‘nurses’ participation and involvement in policies, strategies and running the institution’, ‘institutional policy for professional qualification’, ‘organization and guidance of nursing practice’ and ‘quality and safety of nursing care’.…”

“…In a review study, 10 instruments were identified to assess the environments of professional nursing practice: Revised Nursing Work Index (NWI‐R); Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index (PES‐NWI); Nursing Practice Environment Scale—Chinese Version (C‐NPES); Professional Practice Environment (PPE); Revised Professional Practice Environment (RPPE); Essentials of Magnetism II (EOMII); Professional Practice Work Environment Inventory (PP‐WEI); Korean General Unit—Nursing Work Index (KGU‐NWI); Healthy Work Environment (HWE) and Brisbane Practice Environment Measure (B‐PEM) (Ribeiro, Vicente, Martins, Vandresen, et al., 2020). Most of these instruments were developed based on the Nursing Work Index, with a focus on the structural component of practice environments.…”
