Show more

“…The Head-Toes-Kneed-Shoulders task (HTKS; Ponitz et al, 2008;Ponitz, McClelland, Matthews, & Morrison, 2009; see detailed description in the instruments section) has been widely used to assess selfregulation in preschool (e.g., Hee, Xu, & Krieg, 2018;Montroy, Bowles, Skibbe, McClelland, & Morrison, 2016;Puranik, Boss, & Wanless, 2019;Solé-Ferrer, Mumbardó-Adam, Company-Romero, Balmaña, & Corbella-Santom, 2019). However, the development of other sensitive and ecologically valid measures to assess young children's self-regulation still constitutes a gap in research (McClelland & Cameron, 2012;Perry, 2019).…”

“…Considering the objective of this research, we must not lose sight of the fact that the self-regulation of learning is also understood as a complex multidimensional construct that we approach by considering the use of learning strategies and the skills and abilities needed to monitor and organize one's own learning, manage time, maintain attention, reduce anxiety, delay gratification, and persist in the pursuit of set goals [20]. In this regard, it is common to find measures of self-regulation in terms of the use of self-regulation strategies, coping strategies and resources, measures of executive processes that underlie the self-regulatory process, and measures in terms of self-regulatory deficits [21][22][23].…”
