Inside Front Cover: Topological Transformation of Vesicular Mesostructured Silica (Adv. Mater. 5/2005)

Abstract: The micrometer‐scale self‐assembly behavior of MCM‐41‐type mesostructured silica is shown by Tang and co‐workers on p. 578 through study of a family of vesicular mesostructured silica with topology genera from 1 to 0. The inside cover shows a series of typical vesicular structures with different topologies on the micrometer scale. A better understanding of the micrometer‐scale self‐assembly behavior provides a guide for the rational design of new hierarchical organic–inorganic composite materials, and may also… Show more

“…Comparing these data with those without Bi 3+ doping, the peak position and shape of the emission spectra remain unchanged, except for the luminescent intensity. This shows that the introduction of Bi 3+ does not shift the electron transitions of Eu 3+ ions . The intensity of the PL emission peak at 613 nm is stronger than that without Bi 3+ when the Bi 3+ content is y = 0.010.…”

“…The above results show that the sensitization effect of Bi 3+ on the activator Eu 3+ depends on the concentration of Bi 3+ . Tang et al . explained that smaller Bi 3+ contents do not favor improvements in the luminescent intensity, whereas a higher Bi 3+ concentration has a greater tendency to transfer more energy to Eu 3+ .…”

“…Especially, due to the inertness of silica to the most chemical species, the silica shell was capable of impeding electron, proton, and oxygen diffusion into the NC surface. The coating of silica could make the CdTe NCs possess a high photostability [38,39]. Here the hybrid silica coating to CdTe cores for HS-CdTe NCs should also have a corresponding protection to the NCs avoiding the effect of PVP spinning solution, and make a synergetic contribution together with the ligands to the high PL stability of HSCdTe NCs as well as the subsequent high PL brightness of HS-CdTe/ PVP hybrid fibers.…”

“…As 2D subwavelength nanostructures, metasurfaces have enabled tremendous potential to control both polarization, amplitude, and phase of light with high spatial resolution, [ 1–6 ] to realize unprecedented functionalities, such as beam shaping, [ 7–9 ] focusing, [ 10–12 ] information encrypting, [ 13–17 ] and so on. As an important application, metasurface holograms or metaholograms can reconstruct vivid and colorful images with high spatial resolution in far field.…”
