“…Management of these stored product insect pests mainly involves the use of synthetic pesticides in the form of fumigants and as residual contact insecticides (Devi and Devi 2013;Jaya et al 2012;Pandey et al 2012). Fumigation is one such technique administered at the storage level to eradicate the pest population effectively (Homayouni et al 2014); well known for its rapid toxicity and no/less residual effect on end use products.…”

“…The essential oil of A. conyzoides has been investigated for phytotoxicity against Tribolium castaneum by in vitro and in vivo fumigating testing, and it has been observed that it has no adverse effect on the sprouting of seedlings. Therefore, the plant oil has been considered as a natural pesticide against insect attack on stored food, thus prolonging their shelf life for many years (Jaya, Singh, Prakash, & Dubey, 2014). It has been reported that in vitro pediculicidal activity has also been shown by eugenol, isolated from A. conyzoides (Shailaian et al, 2013).…”

“…Thus, it had potential as natural larvicide for mosquito control, although still required further evaluation for its safety to human and further research to evaluate its mode of action to enhance its effectiveness against the target species (Liu and Liu 2014). Ageratum oil was also known as fumigant against insect in grain storage, Tribolium castaneum Herbst (Jaya et al 2014). Table 3.…”
