Inkjet Printing of Li‐Rich Cathode Material for Thin‐Film Lithium‐Ion Microbatteries

Abstract: The observed downsizing tendency of microelectronic devices leads to a higher demand in new types of miniaturized energy sources. Thin‐film Li‐ion batteries (LiBs) are promising candidates to fulfil this function. New materials and technologies should be investigated for customized production of miniaturized, high‐efficient solid‐state batteries. Herein, inkjet printing technology is considered as a promising one for the fabrication of LiBs. The modification of crystalline lattice of Li‐rich cathode material b… Show more

“…However, it is difficult to prepare the stoichiometric LRLO films using PVD methods. [69][70][71] Due to the lack of conductive agents, the voltage fading of LRLO may be more serious in TFLBs. Once the fabrication of well-crystallized LRLO is realized, its application in TFLBs will become competitive.…”

“…Recently, Kolchanov et al synthesized Li 1.15 K 0.05 Mn 0.54 Ni 0.13 Co 0.13 O 2 (LKMNC) cathode material, and formulated stable inks with poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) binder. [ 55 ] Binder additives are generally needed to provide necessary adhesion to the substrate, and determine the mechanical and other properties of the dried ink after printing. By optimizing the printing parameters, droplet spacing ( p ) and printing layer, uniform cathode film can be obtained, as shown in Figure a.…”
