The best learning outcomes are rarely achieved without motivating the learner and in this regard, active teaching and learning methods have been proven useful. Here, we introduce the "learn and innovate" strategy to enhance the students' interest, conceptual understanding, and deep learning under full guiding instructions. Moreover, by this strategy, we encourage the students to conduct an independent research while acquiring high level thinking skills. Designing appropriate instructional strategies and innovative research tasks and media-which leads to collaborative/cooperative learning-enhances the students' interaction with the course materials. The method supports the students to gain self-confidence, motivation and scientific skills to address different research challenges at early stages while enhancing their learning level. In this context, the adopted strategy fosters a first semester master student to deeply understand the new "Leidenfrost Nanochemistry" phenomenon to synthesize Au nanoparticles. Acquiring such knowledge, the student can participate in solving an exploratory research problem and the related experimental challenges. The "learn and innovate" approach has been proven to be a pivotal and novel active teaching strategy to stimulate the active learning of students and the innovative education based Aha! effect.

Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar a produção de conhecimento do 2º Encontro Científico de Enfermagem do Hospital de Clínicas da Universidade Federal do Triângulo Mineiro. Trata-se de um estudo de análise documental, de caráter exploratório, sobre os trabalhos aprovados para serem apresentados durante o evento. Os dados foram processados no software IRAMUTEQ, organizados em classes temáticas conforme o método da classificação hierárquica descendente. Foram apresentados 58 trabalhos, sendo os principais autores enfermeiros hospitalares (94,3%) e pós-graduandos lato sensu, modalidade residência em saúde (29,3%). Quanto à natureza dos trabalhos apresentados foram mais frequentes os relatos de experiência (56,9%) e os resultados de estudos primários (25,9%). Classes temáticas representativas da produção do conhecimento resultante do evento foram: Qualidade, assistência e cuidado; Programa de Residência Multiprofissional; Hospital enquanto cenário produtor de conhecimento; e Procedimentos, métodos e implantação do cuidado de Enfermagem. O evento científico apresentou-se como iniciativa para integrar ensino, pesquisa e assistência. Além do mais, funcionou como espaço de troca de saberes, potencial a induzir a melhoria de práticas no cenário de estudo. Descritores: Atividades científicas e tecnológicas; Hospitais de ensino; Enfermagem.The aim of this study is to analyze the intellectual production of the 2 nd Scientific Nursing Conference at the Clinical Hospital of the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro, Uberaba, MG, Brazil. This study is one of documentary analysis, of an exploratory nature, of the works that were approved for presentation during the event. Data were processed in the software IRAMUTEQ, organized into groups thematically according to a descending hierarchical classification method. 58 projects were presented, with hospital nurses being the principal authors (94.3%), and lato sensu graduate health students (29.3%). Concerning the nature of the projects presented, reports of experience were most frequent (56.9%), as well as the results of primary studies (25.9%). Thematic groups representative of the intellectual production resultant of the event were: Quality, attention and care; Multiprofessional Residency Program; Hospital as site of intellectual production; and Procedures, methods and implantation of nursing care. The scientific event was introduced as an initiative to integrate teaching, research and care. Further, the event was used as a space for the exchange of knowledge, with potential for inducing the improvement of practices in research settings. Libraries play a fundamental pedagogical role in teaching information literacy skills which include the use of digital tools that take into consideration user rights and duties, a commitment to the cultural collective, the development of an understanding of the current information scenario, and the constant transformations that occur within it. Based on a literature review, this chapter aims to describe and comprehend active teaching-learning approaches used in information literacy initiatives in HE institutions around the world, where the adoption of such innovative approaches can deliver positive results and ensure greater effectiveness in student learning.
