Innovative Education and Active Teaching with the Leidenfrost Nanochemistry

Abstract: The best learning outcomes are rarely achieved without motivating the learner and in this regard, active teaching and learning methods have been proven useful. Here, we introduce the "learn and innovate" strategy to enhance the students' interest, conceptual understanding, and deep learning under full guiding instructions. Moreover, by this strategy, we encourage the students to conduct an independent research while acquiring high level thinking skills. Designing appropriate instructional strategies and innova… Show more

“…Nanotechnology, with its multidisciplinary character, has experienced a rise in the past few decades and has had a significant influence on almost all fields of science and technology, including chemistry . This was also recognized in 2016 when the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Stoddart, Sauvage, and Feringa for their remarkable work on nanomachines. , As the relevance of nanotechnology in society grew more and more obvious, its importance in education became more evident too. , This has been recognized at all levels of education, namely, primary, secondary, , and tertiary (higher) education. , Most contributions regarding nanotechnology in higher education, however, deal with the importance of teaching nanotechnology, , the content taught within nanotechnology courses ,,, or laboratory experiments found useful to illustrate important concepts in nanotechnology in the lab. However, there are only several published contributions on the activities in the nanotechnology classroom ,,,,,,, at any level as most contributions focus on wh...…”

“…Some nanochemistry experiments have been published to approach this need. 14,15 The American Chemical Society has developed a career path in nanochemistry 16 and has recommended that Macromolecular, Supramolecular, and Nanoscale Chemistry be offered. 17 We have developed ChemToy2 as a nanochemical activity that can be incorporated into a nanochemistry course, nanochemistry laboratory, or other related chemistry course or laboratory.…”
