Information Disclosure Model Under Supply Chain Competition with Asymmetric Demand Disruption

Abstract: This paper develops the game models of two symmetric supply chains, each consisting of one manufacturer and one retailer, while both retailers compete in the market with a linear function. The disclosure mechanism is designed when the information of the disrupted demand is asymmetric between supply side and retail side. We first study the model with the full information as a benchmark to explore the effect of asymmetric information on the system. In the case, each manufacturer maximizes her profit while the do… Show more

“…Fang and Shou [13] study the Cournot competition between two supply chains and examine how the levels of supply uncertainty and competition intensity affect the equilibrium decisions of ordering quantity, contract offering, and centralization choice. Chen et al [9] investigate the impacts of Cournot competition on order decision and find it results in the less retail price and the lower performance for the whole system. Considering duopolistic retailers with a Cournot competitive behaviour, Sun et al [37] compare these optimal solutions with other competitive behaviour patterns and examine the effects of certain parameters in a special case and a general case, respectively.…”

“…Gan et al [16] designed the commitment-penalty contract in a drop-shipping supply chain. Lei et al [17] and Chen et al [18] considered the asymmetric information of demand disruption. Zhang and Zhang [19] probed whether the seller with stochastic learning cost and the retailer preferred to select consistent contract type in a two-period supply chain.…”

“…For buyers in e-commerce, they usually have limited information about the suppliers and need to take more risks, because they can neither physically examine products nor verify the reliability of the sellers in an open, virtual environment [7]. Meanwhile, the asymmetric information between supply side and demand side will affect their long-term business relationship, generating more negative consequences for the well-functioning relationship [8]. Many kinds of difficulties can be overcome successfully if enterprises can focus on important events to understand the dynamic characteristics of supply chain.…”
