Abstract:A hydrophobically modified polyacrylamide (PAM) was synthesized by the copolymerization of acrylamide (Am) and N-hexadecylacrylamide (hAm) through solution copolymerization in a polar organic solvent. Polymer synthesis was performed in three nonaqueous media, including dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), a mixture of DMSO and an anionic surfactant such as sodium dodecyl sulfate, and a mixture of DMSO and an acidic surfactant such as dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid. The obtained copolymer, poly(acrylamide-co-N-hexadecylac… Show more
“…S5. † DSC curves of polymers showed initial broad endothermic transitions related to T g of polymer between 60 and 70 C. 60,62 Deep, broad transition up to 250 C is related to the onset of thermal degradation of polymer. Peak temperatures for T g as the midpoint of transition and enthalpy of glass transitions (DH g ) of samples are presented in Table 1.…”
“…59 Initial stages, in the temperature range of $250-400 C, are referred to weak bonds include head-to-head linkages and end-chain unsaturation and also to imine reaction of the amide groups in poly acrylamide segments. 60 Stage 2 occurred beyond $390 C was assigned to the random scission of polymer backbone. 59 At $450 C, all of poly(acrylamide-co-EGDMA) backbones were decomposed completely.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
