Influence of tin precursor concentration on physical properties of nebulized spray deposited tin disulfide thin films

Abstract: Tin disulfide thin films were prepared with different molarities of tin species (M Sn ) at the optimized substrate temperature using the Nebulized Spray pyrolysis technique to obtain better crystallinity with mono phase thin films. The concentration of Tin IV chloride Penta hydrate precursor is varied from 0.05:0.4 to 0.25:0.4 (SnCl 4 .5H 2 O: thiourea) to achieve correct stoichiometry and to tune the concentration of Tin ions in the SnS 2 thin films. These films were well adherent, uniform, and shiny. Lower c… Show more

“…According to the Raman spectra and HRTEM images, the Sn x S y phase predominantly transforms into the SnS phase upon 800 V-EBI treatment with high crystallinity. In addition, the SnS phase has a higher absorption coefficient at 450 nm than SnS 2 [49,50]. Relatively low crystallinity with ambiguous grain boundaries and structural defects of the 600 V-EBI sample leads to inferior performance, as shown in figure S2(a).…”

“…In particular, the SnS2 has attracted considerable interest of researchers in recent years due to ntype electrical conductivity (Kim et al, 2018), non-toxic (Dong et al, 2018), wide band gap (Huanga et al, 2017), high absorption coefficient , high surface activity (Kumar et al, 2019), earth-abundant and cost-effective properties (Hu et al, 2019). Therefore, this material with these properties is suitable some critical opto-electronic application such as optical and transparent gas sensor for sensing NH3, H2S and alcohols (Anitha et al, 2018) and an buffer layer in the n-CdS/p-SnS heterojunction solar cell instead of the CdS toxic-layer . Furthermore, the Sn/S ratio allows change in conductivity type as p-type SnS and n-type SnS2.…”
