This research aimed to study the supplementation effects of mangosteen pericarp meal (MPM) and vitamin E (VE) in the diets on the egg quality and blood profile of laying hens. This research used 160 laying hens of Lohman strains 24 weeks of age. The observation was conducted for 11 weeks. A completely randomized design with four treatments and four replications (10 birds each) was used in this experiment. The treatments consisted of R0 (control diet), R1 (R0 + 1 g MPM/kg ration), R2 (R0 + 2 g MPM/kg ration) and R3 (R0 + 200 mg VE/kg ration). Variables measured were egg quality, yolk cholesterol, and blood profiles. The data were analyzed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and any significant difference between the treatment means were further tested by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that supplementation of 1 g MPM/kg ration in the diet significantly (P<0.05) decreased blood triglycerides compared with the control, laying hens fed with diet suplemented with of 2 g MPM/kg ration, and laying hens with diet suplemented with 200 mg VE/kg ration. Supplementation of MPM and VE did not affect (P>0.05) egg quality (except shell thickness), blood cholesterol, and HDL, respectively. In conclusion, supplementation of 1 g MPM/kg in the diet of laying hens could decrease blood triglycerides.

INTISARIPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh suplementasi tepung kulit manggis (TKM) dan Vitamin E (VE) di dalam ransum ayam ras petelur terhadap kualitas fisik telur selama penyimpanan pada waktu dan suhu yang berbeda. Ayam petelur diberi perlakuan pakan yaitu : R0 (ransum kontrol), R1 (R0 + 1 g TKM/Kg ransum), R2 (R0 + 2 g TKM/Kg ransum) dan R3 (R0 + 200 mg VE/Kg ransum). Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial 4 x 3 x 2 dengan 4 ulangan. Faktor pertama yaitu ransum, faktor kedua yaitu: waktu penyimpanan (1, 2 dan 3 minggu) dan faktor ketiga yaitu suhu penyimpanan pada refrigerator (4,13 o C dan 22,50%) dan suhu ruang (27, 47 o C dan 76,17%). Variabel yang diamati adalah: berat telur, persentase kerabang telur, persentase kuning telur, persentase putih telur, tebal kerabang, warna kuning telur dan Haught unit (HU). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi antara ransum, waktu dan suhu selama penyimpanan sangat nyata (P<0,01) menurunkan warna kuning telur. Waktu dan suhu penyimpanan sangat nyata (P<0,01) menurunkan HU dan meningkatkan persentase kuning telur. Interaksi waktu dan suhu penyimpanan nyata (P<0,05) menurunkan persentase putih telur. Tebal kerabang nyata (P<0,05) meningkat dipengaruhi oleh ransum dan sangat nyata (P<0,01) meningkat dipengaruhi oleh waktu penyimpanan. Berat telur dan persentase kerabang telur tidak dipengaruhi oleh ransum, waktu dan suhu penyimpanan. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah suplementasi tepung kulit manggis dan Vitamin E di dalam ransum ayam ras petelur strain Lohmann secara umum tidak mempengaruhi kualitas fisik telur (kecuali warna kuning telur dan tebal kerabang) yang disimpan pada waktu dan suhu yang berbeda. Kualitas fisik telur lebih utama dipengaruhi oleh waktu dan suhu penyimpanan yang berbeda. Effect of oregano oil supplementation in diets formed using either crude soybean oil or acidulated soybean oil soapstock as source of energy on the growth performance parameters of broilers Efecto de la suplementación con aceite de orégano en la dieta utilizando aceite de soya crudo o aceite de soya acidulado como fuente de energía sobre los parámetros productivos de crecimiento del pollo de engorda ABSTRACT. The type of oil used in the broiler diet is mainly based on its price; in the case of soybean oil (CSO), acidulated soybean oil soapstock (ASS) is cheaper. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of oregano oil dietary supplementation when the diet contains either CSO or ASS as source of energy. 320 broilers Ross 308 were assigned to four groups: (1) CSO containing diet without oregano supplementation, (2) ASS containing diet without oregano supplementation, (3) CSO containing diet with oregano supplementation (100 mg/kg), and (4) ASS containing diet with oregano supplementation (100 mg/kg). The growth performance parameters were weekly recorded during the experiment. Data were analysed with a completely randomised design with 2 × 2 factorial arrangement and the mortality rates were adjusted using the arc-sine transformation to fulfill the analysis requirements. The results showed no effect of oregano oil (containing 30.7 and 9.7 % of thymol and carvacrol, respectively) on feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion rate. A significant interaction of energy source by oregano oil supplementation was found in mortality rates (P < 0.05); mortality was higher when the diet did not contain oregano oil and was formed using ASS. It can be concluded that the addition of 100 mg of oregano oil per kg of feed did not have a positive effect on the growth performance parameters of broilers when the diet contained either crude soybean oil or acidulated soybean oil soapstock as sources of energy.Key words: acidulated soybean oil soapstock, oregano oil, broiler, growth performance. RESUMEN.El tipo de aceite utilizado en la alimentación de los pollos de engorda se basa principalmente en su precio; en el caso del aceite de soya crudo (CSO) el aceite acidificado de soya (ASS) es más económico.
