Given their potential utility in a variety of fields, including solid-state lighting, flat-panel displays, solar energy converters, optical amplifiers, and more, phosphors and glasses driven by Rare Earth (RE) ions and emitting multiple colors have attracted a lot of interest. Full-spectrum lighting, high-efficiency near-infrared emission, and wide colour gamut display are the primary difficulties for these emerging RE doped phosphors, which are dependent on the emission characteristics of the phosphors utilized. The various methods of synthesis for Eu3+ activated red emitting phosphors are discussed, with an emphasis on the aspects that contribute to improved luminous performance. This luminescence analysis is used in investing the Crystal structure and defects in metal oxides from which it provides information on the chemical and mechanical behavior of metal oxides during mining and processing operations. In this description, we outline the research findings and talk about the luminescence theory of the Eu3+ doped glasses and oxides for the red emission.

ZnO incorporated phosphate based bioglasses with the composition xZnO–22Na2O–24CaO–(54-X)P2O5 (where X = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 mol%) were developed by melt-quenching process. The physical, thermal and other structural properties of the glasses were studied in detail. By employing various characterization techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in addition to the energy dispersion spectroscopy (EDS), and Raman spectroscopy, the structural properties were analyzed. Interestingly, physical, thermal and mechanical properties were enhanced with the increasing content of zinc oxide up to 8 mol%, due to the presence of more ionic nature of P–O–Zn bonds than P–O–P bonds in the glass network. The FTIR and Raman analysis revealed the evolution of the phosphate network with increasing zinc concentration and leads to progressive depolymerisation of the glass network. The obtained results from the physical and structural properties of these zinc added calcium phosphate glasses support their potential to use as bone implant applications.

A conventional technique has been used to prepare Heavy Metal Oxides (HMO) doped ternary tellurite glasses. The batch composition of samples were as (90-y)%TeO2-10%WO3-x%ZnO, (y=5%,10%,15%, and 20%). ZnO alter the optical and physical properties of the glasses are investigated. The thermal characteristics of the produced samples are studied using differential scanning calorimetry, and their structural conformation is determined using XRD. The existence of structural units is shown by Raman spectroscopy. Other parameters of glass samples have been calculated, including density, molar volume, polaron radius, and intermolecular distance. The absorption spectra of samples were measured in the spectrum range of 350nm to 1000nm, and the refractive index, direct and indirect optical energy band gaps, and Urbach’s energy were determined.
