“…In this study, OCS was noted not only to significantly influence HCPs' work engagement but also to explain a significant amount of its variance, which was similar to that reported by Verc ˇic ˇand Voki c (2017). Thus, the main hypothesis proposed in this study was supported, further validating various scholars' assertion on the importance of OCS in enhancing the work engagement of HCPs (Carriere & Bourque, 2009;Geun & Park, 2019;Wang et al, 2018). The findings highlight that OCS is imperative to build a sense of commitment among HCPs and develop their willingness to go the extra mile to achieve organisational goals.…”

“…Communication satisfaction consists of multiple constructs, such as the amount of information received, the quality and consistency of communication exchange, the frequency of interaction and the receptivity of upward communication (Abdullah & Jong, 2014;Altınöz, 2009;Turkelson et al, 2016). HCPs' satisfaction with the overall flow of internal communication within their organisation is considered essential for improved job satisfaction (Carriere & Bourque, 2009;Vermeir et al, 2018), organisational commitment (Carriere & Bourque, 2009;Geun & Park, 2019), mutual understanding and relationship among co-workers (Geun & Park, 2019;Riley, 2015), productivity (Geun & Park, 2019;Hoboubi et al, 2017) and work climate (Braaf et al, 2013;Woo et al, 2020). Employees' satisfaction with their organisational communication practices therefore has valuable implications for the organisation's performance.…”

“…Thus, in a nursing population, verbal aggressiveness has been significantly related positively to agreeableness, conscientiousness and neuroticism, and although the mood dimension of emotional intelligence moderated this relationship, it was only relevant for those persons with high scores in neuroticism [ 20 ]. In other studies, emotional intelligence has been positively related to communication skills [ 21 ]. It may be deduced from this that integral humanized patient care requires effective communication, especially in highly psychosocially stressful situations (such as in terminal illness or emergencies), where complex communication takes place between professionals, patients and family members [ 10 , 22 – 25 ].…”
