Increasing energy production of a ducted wind turbine system

Abstract: This article focuses on evaluating the performance of a relatively new system of a ducted wind turbine with an omnidirectional capture system, the INVELOX system. In the present study, the improvement of such patented system has been developed by performing a detailed numerical analysis varying several geometrical parameters and analysing the effect of changing wind velocity and wind direction. At first, the model validation was performed and the performance of the original system against the wind direction ch… Show more

“…The decoupled turbine and intake permit the linkage of multiple intakes to improve mass flow and, consequently, the power output. It is also possible to install the INVELOX in locations where traditional wind turbines may not be operational due to very low or very high wind speeds [50,51]. The generation of energy using the INVELOX system decreases the probability of harming wildlife [52].…”

“…The wind is one of the most significant renewable energies (Meyyappan, 2020; Singh et al, 2019a, 2019b, 2021). Presently, wind energy is one of the strategic productions in energy business markets (Nardecchia et al, 2020). Regarding a lot of Wind Turbine (WT) components, it can be exposed to many faults (Hyers et al, 2006; Singh et al, 2019a, 2021; Singh and Sundaram, 2021).…”

“…In this context, the use of renewable energies could constitute an ecological alternative and a solution of national economic security. As a result, the world is facing of a massive integration of renewable energy sources, especially wind and solar ones, over the past two decades (Guo et al, 2020b;Nardecchia et al, 2020;Zhang et al, 2020). Variable speed wind turbines based on doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) has a significant market share, due to their competitive advantages, such as their variable speed operation, fractional converter rating and output filter costs effectiveness (Liu et al, 2020;Mohd Zin et al, 2013;Patnaik and Mahapatra, 2017).…”
