The article is devoted to the analysis of possibilities of using alternative types of fuel in transport. Gas engine fuels are considered as potential energy carriers for diesel engines. Since the constructions of vehicles, using gas and traditional types of fuel, have some differences, the most important are the issues of ensuring trouble-free operation: the reliability of design, the development of petrol station chain, and the corporate service system. One of the ways of solving the problem of forecasting the need to expand the network of gas-filling stations for natural gas vehicles (NGV)is presented in the work. It is implemented in the form of program module that allows taking into account the prospects for expansion of the natural gas vehicles park, as well as the risks, which may arise in the process of realization of the long-term strategies for the development of this direction. The issues of ensuring the operational reliability of NGV are considered. The developed methods are aimed at improving the corporate service system of PJSC "KAMAZ". Fundamental defects of gasengines and failures distribution, depending on the operational kilometers, arising in the warranty period of operation, are analyzed in the work.

Improving road safety in small towns based on a systematic approach

Currently improving road safety is the priority task in the field of transport management. In our opinion, making management decisions to reduce the road accidents number and injuries rate should be based on a systematic approach to identifying the accidents’ causes and severity. This can be achieved using, among other things, the analysis of statistical data on violations and accidents in dynamics. A model so-called the Haddon Matrix was used as a method of preliminary identification of influencing factors and possible measures for their elimination. The statistical analysis results are presented a particular settlement. It was revealed that the city specifics, namely the residents’ number, motorization rate and the road network and infrastructure characteristics, are reflected in the factors affecting the level of accidents rate and, as a consequence, on the measures necessary to reduce it.

Jalan nasional di Kota Ambon menghubungkan antara Bandara Pattimura dengan Pelabuhan Yos Sudarso memiliki akses ganda dengan kondisi jalan paralel. Beberapa ruas jalan tidak menerus seperti Jalan A.M. Sangadji dan Jalan Rijali, memiliki dua lajur tetapi masih satu arah. Artikel ini bertujuan mengkaji kapasitas kedua segmen jalan nasional eksisting di Kota Ambon berdasarkan kondisi masing-masing ruas jalan menurut LHR, hambatan samping dan persyaratan jalan menerus. Kajian dilakukan terstruktur dan sistematis sesuai tahapan ilmiah menggunakan data hasil pantauan lapangan serta data sekunder terkini dari sumber data di unit kerja BPJN XVI Ambon meliputi Segmen I (Jalan Bawah) dan Segmen II (Jalan Atas). Hasil kajian terpilih tiga alternatif akses jalan nasional, yaitu: Alternatif Pertama, menggunakan akses jalan nasional Segmen I dengan rekomendasi Reklamasi Pantai Mardika, menghubungkan 6 ruas jalan masing-masing: Jalan Yos Sudarso, Jalan Pala, Jalan Pantai Mardika, Jalan Pantai Batu Merah, Jalan Ongko Liong, dan Jalan Sultan Hasanuddin. Alternatif Kedua, menggunakan akses jalan nasional Segmen II dengan rekomendasi Pembangunan Jalan Layang (flyover), menghubungkan 6 ruas jalan masing-masing: Jalan Pelabuhan, Jalan A.M. Sangadji, Jalan Diponegoro, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Rijali, dan Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. Alternatif Ketiga, menggunakan akses jalan nasional parallel antara Segmen I dan Segmen II untuk kondisi saat ini, dengan rekomendasi rekayasa lalu lintas dan penanganan beberapa ruas jalan menjadi menerus.
