“…(5) In uremic patients, either treated or not by hemodialysis, data in general point toward increased serum strontium levels as compared with subjects with normal renal function. (28,29) Recent preliminary findings of our group indicate that serum strontium levels in dialysis patients may differ greatly from center to center, ranging from values comparable to those noted in subjects with normal renal function (14 ± 7 g/l) up to 30-fold higher, i.e., mean ± SD of 29 ± 11 g/l, in the center with the lowest strontium concentrations, as compared with 466 ± 90 g/l in the center with the highest levels. Although evidence still has to be presented, this wide concentration range most likely is due to differences in the dialysate strontium concentration and perhaps variations in the dietary intake.…”
