Incorporating α-Allyl Glucoside into Polyacrylonitrile by Water-Phase Precipitation Copolymerization To Reduce Protein Adsorption and Cell Adhesion

Abstract: R-Allyl glucoside (AG) was incorporated into polyacrylonitrile by water-phase precipitation copolymerization (WPPCP) for the first time with K 2S2O8-Na2SO3 as initiator system to improve the resistance properties of protein adsorption and cell adhesion for acrylonitrile-based polymer. The effects of initiator concentration, reaction time and temperature, and total monomer concentration on the copolymerization were studied, and some results were compared with those of solution copolymerization using AIBN as ini… Show more

“…[36][37][38][39][40] It is well known that PAN shows many advantages and has been widely used as membrane materials. [18,[41][42][43][44][45] According to our previous work and other reports, [1,20,46] poly[acrylonitrile-co-(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)] (PANCNVP) is of excellent biocompatibility and shows some applications in blood-contacting devices and enzyme immobilization. Since the dense membranes have been studied previously, herein, the states of water in the corresponding fibrous membranes as well as the swelling behaviors are investigated.…”

“…It is believed that the behavior of cells on a specific biomaterial surface may vary greatly with the type of cell investigated [15,16]. Macrophages are a kind of immune cell and perform various functions in living bodies, such as migration, phagocytosis, secretion, antigen presentation and survival through precisely modulated adhesion [17,18]. Preventing the activation of immune cells is a requirement for biomedical membranes.…”
