The Covid-19 outbreak has had a negative impact on the decline in the number of visits in the tourism sector, one of which is the tourist village. The recovery of tourist villages during Covid-19 relies heavily on the role of the Tourism Awareness Community (Pokdarwis). However, the role of the Tourism Awareness Community in the development of tourist villages during Covid-19 is still not clearly discussed. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the tourism village development strategy during COVID-19 by the Tourism Awareness Community in the Teritip Village, Balikpapan-Indonesia. This study uses the QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix) method, which is a method for determining the priority of alternative strategies obtained from a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). The results showed that the position of the Tourism Awareness Community was in quadrant V (Hold and Maintain), namely market penetration and product development strategies. That is, the professional management of tourist villages is crucial to increasing the number of tourist visits. The management of the tourist village must be able to optimize the resources they have to develop a tourist village in the Teritip Village. In addition, the development of attractive tour packages is also the key to attracting tourists. Therefore, strengthening human resources related to the professionalism of tourism village management is very necessary in order to advance tourism villages.

Community-based tourism (CBT) is a way to encourage the community to get involved in tourism, and its success depends on the level of participation. Although many academics have discussed CBT, such a concept needs evaluation related to its implementation and how the community benefits. This paper aims to (1) identify the practices of CBT and factors affecting the conduct of beach tourism; (2) evaluate the success of CBT from the perspective of the local people. This paper employs the conceptual framework of success criteria for CBT by utilising qualitative data from in-depth interviews and observations at Ujung Batu Beach, Barru Regency. The research reveals that the practice of beach tourism consists of two, approaches: existing condition management and proposed people management. Six factors affect the conduct of tourism: boat parking by the fishermen, waste management, limited community participation, the natural condition of the coastal area, the existence of the local organisation and the availability of facilities. There should be more efforts to achieve the goals of CBT, including support from the coastal residents, promotion of uniqueness and environmental conservation. This paper contributes to advancing the knowledge of CBT from the perspective of beach tourism.

Awareness is a driving force for women to be involved in ecotourism management. With objective awareness, they will become tourism actors who can play an active and productive role in providing tourism services to visitors. This study aims to determine the rise of awareness in the development of ecotourism. Women's awareness in ecotourism management needs to be developed in order to ensure the existence of tourism to be more useful and they can participate actively in tourism management. This research used a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research were the manager coordinator, tourism manager, members of Dasawisma, and the local community in the Glugut Park Tourism, in Bantul, Indonesia. Their participation was decided by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity was done by triangulating the source and extended observation. The results show that increasing women's awareness can eventuate and be impactful toward their active participation in the tourism management. Therefore, for optimal result, women’s capacity improvement in regard to local-potential-based tourism development needs to be fully worked on so that they will get additional meaningful effects.JEL Classification: I29; O10; Z32
