PurposeThere is a significant decrease in students' attendance in Zoom classes compared to traditional classes. This paper investigates the factors that affect students' attitudes, behavioral intentions and actual use of Zoom for online classes at higher educational institutions (HEIs) in Sri Lanka.Design/methodology/approachThis research uses the technology acceptance model (TAM) as a theoretical model. The data are collected from HEI students via an online survey form. The hypotheses between constructs in the model are tested using partial least squared–structural equation model.FindingsThe analysis shows that computer self-efficacy (CSE) affects perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEU), which affects attitude (ATT) and behavioral intention (BI) and actual use (AU) of Zoom in a chain reaction. Further, PEU affects PU, which, in turn, affects BI. Furthermore, the effect size of PU to BI is larger than ATT to BI.Practical implicationsStudents' attendance for Zoom classes mainly depends on CSE, PU and PEU. Therefore, HEIs should promote Zoom with interactive training before teaching online. Further, officials should revise the curriculum in schools to upsurge the CSE of students.Originality/valueDuring coronavirus-19, no research was published on students' use of Zoom for online classes in the Sri Lankan context. Moreover, the TAM model has been modified by including CSE as an external variable.

Abstrack -The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in obstacles in the education sector so that face-toface learning cannot be carried out to prevent the spread of the virus. Because of this, learning for students is carried out from home and educational institutions carry out their learning activities virtually with various kinds of online learning media. Zoom Cloud Meeting is one of the most widely used online learning media with video conferencing, including at SDIT Al Hikmah Cipayung Depok for online teaching and learning activities. The school wants to know and measure how much influence zoom technology has on students' interest in learning from home (BDR) from the perception of ease and benefit. The solution is to do research with the TAM model, instrument testing, data processing using the SPSS version 25 application with a sample size of 61. The results obtained are that there is a linear relationship between the ease and usefulness variables with the student's behavioral interest in using technology, namely the sig value. deviation linearity of 0.102. Ease of use and benefits of student interest in learning have a positive effect where t count is 6,016 greater than t table of 2,001. The existence of a strong relationship or correlation between the ease of use and the benefits of using the student's behavioral interest with a correlation coefficient of 0.617, thus the acceptance of zoom technology has a positive effect on the perceived ease and benefit of student interest in learning from home.

With divergent educational processes brought forth through the unforeseen circumstances such as a global pandemic, students have become obligated to pursue virtual means towards obtaining their education. Therefore, this study seeks to review the different formats of virtual learning processes and methodologies that are currently made available to students based on student and user perception and technology adoption efforts. Through comparative analysis efforts identifying synchronous, hybrid and asynchronous virtual educational standards across multiple publications and understanding technology acceptance models (TAM) and theories such as perceived usefulness, it is understood that virtual learning efforts which pursue an asynchronous methodology are more comparable in contrast other formats.
