Implementação da biblioteca digital da UFRGS

Abstract

Descreve a concepção e operação da biblioteca digital, desenvolvida pela Biblioteca Central em parceria com o Centro de Processamento de Dados, a Pró-Reitoria de Pesquisa e a Pró-Reitoria Adjunta de Pós-Graduação da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Tem como objetivos preservar a memória institucional e disponibilizar a produção intelectual gerada no âmbito da Universidade, proporcionando maior visibilidade e acessibilidade, através da Internet. Relata os benefícios da integração da biblioteca digital com o catálogo on-line do Sistema de Bibliotecas da UFRGS, já consolidado como instrumento de registro e divulgação da produção do corpo docente e técnico-administrativo da Universidade. Apresenta os critérios que norteiam a inclusão de teses e dissertações em meio eletrônico. Aborda a expansão dos tipos de documentos a serem incluídos, com ênfase para materiais multimídia e o acervo retrospectivo de teses e dissertações, visando ampliar e qualificar a recuperação de informações.
