In 2019, chili production in Banten province amounted to 12,122.9 tons with a harvest area of 1,395 ha or productivity of 8.7 tons/ha. The objectives of this study are: 1) Analyzing the factors affecting the cultivated land area and chili production in Banten Province, 2) Analyzing the impact of increasing input and output prices on chili production in Banten Province. This study method used a survey method with 80 respondents. The analysis method uses the Simultaneous Equation Model. The results of the study were 1) The factors that significantly influence the cultivated land area of Rainy Season (RS) 2015/2016 were the number of: manure, solid organic fertilizers, other fertilizers, solid leaf fertilizers, and the total land area. The factors that significantly influence chili production in Banten Province are the number of: KCL fertilizer, liquid leaf fertilizer, and liquid growth stimulant. 2) From the policy simulation results, it is known that an increase in chili prices by 25%, Urea fertilizer by 25%, and NPK by 25% simultaneously will reduce production by 2.8% and chili farming income by 16.2%, but increase the area land 5.8% and farmer household income 0.06%. The government needs to stabilize the chili price and maintain the subsidized fertilizer price.

Cabai merah tergolong komoditas yang mudah rusak dengan tingkat kerusakan mencapai 40%. Tindakan yang dapat dilakukan untuk memperpanjang daya simpan dan mempertahankan mutu buah cabai dengan memanfaatkan pupuk hayati selama budidaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pupuk hayati saat budidaya tanaman cabai terhadap daya simpan dan mutu buah cabai merah. Penelitian dilakukan di Sub Laboratorium Hortikultura Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Gadjah Mada pada bulan Maret sampai April 2017. Buah cabai merah yang dihasilkan dari tanaman yang diberi pupuk hayati Bacillus spp., Mikoriza, Streptomyces spp., serta buah cabai yang dihasilkan dari tanaman yang tidak diberi pupuk hayati (kontrol) digunakan sebagai bahan penelitian. Buah cabai merah sesuai perlakuannya disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok Lengkap (RAKL) dengan tiga blok sebagai ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buah cabai merah hasil tanaman yang diberi pupuk hayati Bacillus spp., Mikoriza, dan Streptomyces spp. dapat memperpanjang daya simpan selama satu hari, dengan rata-rata daya simpan selama 14 hari. Penggunaan Streptomyces spp. pada tanaman cabai dapat meningkatkan panjang buah cabai hingga 1,05 cm serta meningkatkan padatan terlarut total hingga 0,45 oBrix dibandingkan buah cabai yang dihasilkan oleh tanaman kontrol. Penggunaan Mikoriza pada tanaman cabai dapat meningkatkan pH dengan rata-rata sebesar 0,085. Pemanfaatan Bacillus spp., Mikoriza, dan Streptomyces spp. pada budidaya cabai merah dapat memperpanjang umur simpan dan meningkatkan mutu buah cabai merah. Pemanfaatan ketiga macam pupuk hayati tersebut menghasilkan buah cabai yang sehat, tidak ada residu pestisida, dan ramah lingkungan.

Red chili (Capsicum annuum L.) is one of the basic consumption commodities in Indonesia for household and industrial needs. Chili is a horticultural product that was easily damaged (both physically and mechanically) and was always needed so that proper packaging and storaging can be a critical post-harvest point to maintain horticulture product freshness. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect plastic crate and cardboard box packaging on the physical quality of fresh curly chili. The curly chilies that have been harvested are then sorted based on uniformity of quality. Sorting is carried out to ensure that the quality of fresh curly chilies is uniform. The chilies are put into cardboard packaging and plastic baskets neatly and fully filled, then covered with adhesive so that during transportation the chilies do not spill out of the package. The weight of each package is measured to determine the initial weight of the packed chilies and then transported using a pick-up car. After that, the chilies are stored at 150C for 16 days until curly chilies are not suitable for consumption. Chili quality measurement included weight loss, color change, hardness and water content changes. The cardboard packaging is better than using plastic crate when viewed in terms of increased weight loss (crate packaging weight losses 27,5%, cardboard packaging weight loss 24,8% after storage). Storage using plastic crate and cardboard is proven to be good at maintaining the hardness of chili (around 2,15-2,20 N after storage). Color changes was seen in basket packaging and cardboard packaging (the degree of L, a, b). In terms of changes in moisture content, plastic crate packaging is better than cardboard packaging to maintain the moisture content (The moisture content in plastic crate packaging was 82% to 74%, moisture content in cardboard packaging was 81% to 75%).
