“…Die CT gibt die beste Information über die lokale Ausdehnung und Invasion in die benachbarten knöchernen Strukturen, die MRT zeigt die Invasion umgebender Weichteile wie der vorderen Schädelgrube oder der Orbita am besten [9].…”

“…The basal cells of the olfactory neuroepithelium are presumably the progenitor of the ENB. No known causal factor exists for this tumor (5) although diethylnitrosamine injections can induce tumors in hamsters at the site of the olfactory epithelium (6). No hereditary patterns have been described for this neoplasm and there is no apparent racial predilection.…”

“…Most authors agree that the imaging modality of choice is the combination of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) [5,[11][12][13]. The protocols for computed tomography scanning include axial and coronal scans of 1 to 5 mm thick slices with intravenous contrast agent.…”

“…Contrast CT scan usually shows homogenous masses with necrotic non enhancing areas [12,13]. MRI, with or without contrast, is very helpful in identifying the extent of the tumor to adjacent sites, especially when tumor spread into surrounding soft tissue areas, the orbit or the dura, is suspected [11][12][13]. Gadolinium enhanced MR images help to differentiate tumor from obstructed secretions in paranasal sinuses, determining meningeal and extradural spread and to detect perineural spread [13].…”
