Identifying of Relationship Between Traits and Grain Yield in Spring Barley by Gge Biplot Analysis

Abstract: SUMMARYGrain yield is very important and complicated trait in spring barley breeding and rely upon combination varied plant traits (agronomic and quality). For this reason, a real barley breeding program necessaries an appropriate mentality of the relationships between grain yield and traits. The aim of study was evaluate the relationship of grain yield and other traits of 25 spring barley genotypes in one location during two years by GGE Biplot analysis. The experiments were performed according to a complete … Show more

“…The genotype ´ environment interaction is often reported for different traits in soybean (Carvalho et al, 2002a;Lima et al, 2008;Vasconcelos et al, 2010;Marques et al, 2011;Barros et al, 2012;Bueno et al, 2013;Silva et al, 2015;Soares et al, 2015) and other crop species, like barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), triticale (´Triticosecale Wittm. ex A. Camus), and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) (Kendal, 2015;Kendal and Sener, 2015;Dogan et al, 2016;. When the existence of interaction is verified, a strategy that can be adopted is the adaptability and stability analysis through the genotype + genotype ´ environment (GGE) biplot method.…”

“…Experimental research needs to be carried out over multiple environment trials in order to identify and analyse the major factors that are responsible for genotype adaptation and final selection (Popovic at al., 2011Kendal, E and Dogan, Y. (2015), Dogan et al 2016). Malting barley is expected to have 1000 grain weight of 40 and 46 g and test weight of 68 to 75 kg/hl (Paunović et al, 2006).…”

“…The center of the concentric circles (i.e., ideal dose) was the AEA in the positive direction. Doses located closer to the ideal dose were more desirable than others (Yan &Tinker, 2006;Dogan et al, 2016). The result demonstrated that N4 was ideal application dose in the both season, as it was in the center circle for the ideal doses and on the AEA (Fig.…”

“…Also regression analysis was done by this program. On the other hand; GT biplot analyses were used to determine the differences among application nitrogen doses and crop characteristics and cultivar crop characteristics in two growing seasons (Dogan et al 2016;Kilic, 2016). GGE biplot analysis also allows comparison amongst nitrogen doses in terms of their discriminating ability and representativeness.…”
