Die Fraktionen 6 1 2 der ,,Chromatographie der Mutterlauge von Honghelosid A" (3,58 g)l) gaben am Methanol-&her zunachst 1,2 g eines Gemisches von Honghelosid A und 16-Desacetyl-anhydrohonghelosid A1). Die 2,38 g Mutterlauge gaben nach monatelangem Stehen in Methanol-Ather langsam weitere 650 mg eines Kristallgemisches vorn rohen Smp. 120-190O. Dieses gab aus wenig Methanol 68 mg rohes Somalin vom Smp. 132-150°, das nach Umkristallisieren aus Methanol in farblosen Nadeln mit dreifachem Smp. 116-125O + 153-156O + 198-202O erhalten wurde; [ c r ] ? = + 14,7O & 2O (e = 1,488 in Chloroform). 14,78 mg Subst. zu 0,9935 cm3; I = 1 dm; a: = +0,2180 f 0,02O 3,682 mg Subst. gaben 9,350 mg CO, und 2,985 mg H,O C,,H,,O, (515,67) Ber. C 69,47 H 8,94% Gef. C 69,50 H 9,07% Die Mischprobe mit Somalin vom Smp. 196-202O schmolz ebenso. Die Farbreaktionen mit 84-proz. H,SO, waren gleich. Acetat: 31 mg Somalin aus Adenium H o n g h e l wurden wie friiher beschrieben2) Die Mikroanalyse wurde im Mikrolabor der Organ.-chem. Anstalt der Universitat acetyliert. Smp. 168-171°, Misch-Smp. mit authentischem Material ohne Depression. Basel aufgefuhrt (Leitupg E. Thommen).

Die Kristalle waren praktisch unloslich in Ather, schwer loslich in Aceton und Wasser, leichter in Met,hanol und dthanol. Raymond-Reaktion: positiv, Keller-Kiliani-Reaktion: negativ. Farbreaktion mit 84-proz. H,S04: farblos wahrend 3 Std.; mit konz. H,S04 : gelb (O'), karminrot (Y), violettrot (4'), dunkelbordeaux (lo'), dunkelgriin (5o'), dunkel blaugrun (7 Std.). Biolog. Wirksamkeit siehe theoret. Teil. Papierchromatogramm vgl. Nr. 3 in Fig. 5 und 7. Acetat: 50 mg krist. Sarmentosid E (obiges Praparat) wurden in 0,8 cm3 abs. Pyridin und 0,7 em3 Acetanhydrid 14 Std. bei 1 8 O stehengelassem und anschliessend 2 '/2 Std. auf 75O erwarmt. Ubliche Aufarbeitung gab 62 mg neutrales Rohprodukt. Aus Methanol-Ather 40 mg farblose Nadeln, Smp. 300-303° (Zers.). [ c c ]~ = -28,5O & 2 O (c = 0,9980 in Chloroform). Die Mischprobe mit authentischem Vergleichsmaterial schmolz gleich. Die Analysen wurden im Milrrolabor unseres Instituts (Leitung E. Thornmen) ausgefuhrt . Z u s a m m enf a s s ung. Als Hauptglykoside der Samen von S t r o p h a n t h u s t h o l l o n i F~anch. wurden nach Fermentierung die Xarmentoside A und E in Kristallen isoliert. Daneben wurde etwas Sarmentosid C nachgewiesen, xowie ein weiterer Stoff, den wir ,,Substanz U" nennen. Die Samen enthalten wahrscheinlich noch Sarmentosid D und andere Glykoside, die sich nur sehr schwer von Sarmentosid A trennen lassen. Eine Probe der Samen von S. t h o l l o n i var. g a r d e n i i f l o r u s (GiZg) Monuch. aus Angola gab ein Mischkristallisat, das nach dem Ergebnis cter Papierchromatographie ebenfalls vorwiegend die Sarmentoside A und E enthielt. Chemiseh ist diese Pflanze, soweit wir feststellen konnten, bisher nicht untersucht worden.
