Abstract:The title compound, [Zn(NO3)2(C24H16N2)2], is a twofold axially symmetric coordination compound. Given that the Zn—O interactions [2.4926 (15) and 2.6673 (15) Å] can be considered as weakly bonding and the nitrate ions share the same C
2 axis of the Zn(dpp)2 fragment (dpp is 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline), these anions belong to the coordination sphere of Zn2+, leading to a complex with an overall coordination number of 8 for the metal ion.
“…The Zn-N Bphen bond lengths, ranging from 2.135(2) to 2.157(2) Å, are in agreement with those found in the literature for this type of bonds [62][63][64]. A monomeric cationic Zn(II)-complex containing two phen molecules and a bidentate acetate showed similar Zn-N bond lengths (2.133 to 2.140 Å) [65].…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
