Hydrogen-Rich Gas Production from Biomass Catalytic Gasification

Abstract: With the use of dolomite in the fluidized-bed gasifier and the use of nickel-based catalysts in the fixed bed reactor downstream from the gasifier, the characteristics of hydrogen yield from biomass are investigated in the present study. Some calcined dolomite is placed initially in the gasifier with an amount of 120 g/(kg h -1 ) biomass. To replace the eroded and elutriated dolomite, calcined dolomite (0.3-0.45 mm) is continuously fed and its feeding rate is determined by preliminary test. The influence of th… Show more

“…The gas composition performance of biomass catalytic steam gasification has also been studied by other researchers [1,31,40,66]. Among the aforementioned reports for investigating the influence of Ni loading on gas concentrations during steam reforming of hydrocarbons, it was found that H2 was increased and concentrations of CH4 and C2-C4 were reduced.…”

“…However, the fed particles size also plays an important role in the gasification outcomes, having larger surface areas per unit mass and larger pore sizes facilitate rapid heat transfer and gasification (Kirubakaran et al 2009). In addition, smaller feed size resulted in more CH4, CO, and C2H4 and less CO2, leading to higher gas yields and gas energy content (Lv et al 2004).…”
