Highly Stable Conjugates of Carbon Nanoparticles with DNA Aptamers

Abstract: Conjugates of carbon nanoparticles and aptamers have great potential in many areas of biomedicine. In order to be implemented in practice, such conjugates should keep their properties throughout long storage period in commonly available conditions. In this work, we prepared conjugates of carbon nanoparticles (CNP) with DNA aptamers using streptavidin-biotin reaction. Obtained conjugates possess superior stability and kept their physical-chemical and functional properties during 30 days at +4 °C and -20 °C. Pro… Show more

“…The Z-potential values of lyotropic colloidal liquid crystals were below −29 mV, except in formulation 2 (Table 2). Formulations showing Z-potential values of +30 or −30 mV, or less lower, were stable and they did not make aggregates in aqueous suspensions [55,56,57]. Conversely, formulation 2, with the bigger sizes and wider size distribution than the other formulations (Table 2), had a Z-potential value of −15 mV and was unstable overtime.…”

“…In colorimetric detections, nanoparticles are also frequently used as reporting agents including silver [102], gold [103,104] and carbon nanoparticles [105] and aptamer-labeled bacteriophages [106]. Aptamer-modified silver nanoparticles were used for rapid, visual IgE detection, where anti-human IgE antibodies were spotted on solid support to capture IgE and form antibody/IgE/aptamer-AgNP complex.…”
