High‐Throughput Mercury Monitoring in Indoor Dust Microsamples by Bath Ultrasonic Extraction and Anodic Stripping Voltammetry on Gold Nanoparticles‐Modified Screen‐Printed Electrodes

Abstract: A simple strategy based on the combination of a high‐throughput bath ultrasonic extraction with portable electrochemical determination was developed for fast Hg(II) monitoring in dust samples, with potential applicability to decentralized atmospheric pollution assessment. Square‐wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV) on gold nanoparticles‐modified screen‐printed carbon electrodes (AuNPs‐SPCEs) coupled to the extraction procedure resulted in a convenient method for sensitive, reliable, and reproducible mercu… Show more

“…DTPA can extract watersoluble, exchangeable, adsorptive, organic stationary and partially-oxidized heavy metals from soil, which is considered to be a highly bioactive form related to its total amount. The available heavy metals measured by DGT include the free state of soil solution and the unstable organic and inorganic complex state released from the surface of soil particles (Chen et al, 2012; Bernalte et al, 2013). The average extraction rates (i.e.…”

“…The use of AuNPs instead of the classical gold electrode improves the sensitivity in the analysis of Hg(II) [81][82][83][84][85][86]] (Table 4). A rigorous comparison of SPCE modified with nanomaterials or with hybrid nanomaterials shows the advantages that can provide the combination of different nanomaterials in one device [86].…”

“…Recent works have shown the good performance of SPGE for Hg determinations in different samples . However, the use of these electrodes is limited due to the overpotential of hydrogen compared to other electrodes such as mercury or bismuth film.…”
