“…Rebar has serious corrosion problems when they are contacted with water, salt (NaCl) and carbon dioxide (CO2). In industrial areas where CO2,H2S, S and C are present, corrosive species are more complex which complicate corrosion mechanism Alia et al, 2017;Asmara et al, 2013;Asmara et al, 2011). Corrosion of rebar does not only damage concretes but also reduces concrete strength.…”

“…XRD with EDS analysis revealed that the oxide scale formed was porous in nature and contains Fe 2 O 3 in high concentration and Cr 2 O 3 in significant amount, which was further analysed and confirmed by cross-sectional investigation. Alia et al (2017a, 2017b) and Rani et al (2017) observed the formation of Fe 2 O 3 scale during their investigations of boiler steel under the influence of molten salt environment. El-Awadi et al (2016) concluded that the scale, Fe 2 O 3 , was non-protective in nature.…”

“…Thus, CNT plays a vital role in the reduction of hot corrosion. The voids, cracks and micro holes in the coating microstructure were filled with the CNT, which acts as a barrier to the corrosive elements (Kumar et al , 2020a, 2020b; Alia et al , 2017b; Gell et al , 2018). Therefore, based on the present research work, it can be concluded that CNT reinforcement in ZrO 2 Y 2 O 3 coatings was able to provide better corrosion resistance than the conventional coatings for boiler alloy steel at an elevated working temperature.…”

“…These theories mainly indicated that the rare earth elements were enriched at the grain boundaries, thereby prevented the diffusion of anions and cations [14,16]. At the same time, the adhesion of the oxides could be increased during the high temperature oxidation process, and reduced the oxidation rate [15][16][17][18].…”

“…For example, Liang et al [14] studied the oxidation resistance of rare earth steel under high temperature steam conditions. This material is mainly used in ultra-supercritical boiler tubes for power plants [15]. Yan et al [16] discussed the effect of yttrium on the cyclic oxidation behaviour of HP40 heatresistant steel at 1373 K. Others have also analyzed the properties of heat-resistant steel under continuous oxidation at elevated temperatures [17,18].…”
