High-Performance WS2 Monolayer Light-Emitting Tunneling Devices Using 2D Materials Grown by Chemical Vapor Deposition

Abstract: The solid progress in the study of a single two-dimensional (2D) material underpins the development for creating 2D material assemblies with various electronic and optoelectronic properties. We introduce an asymmetric structure by stacking monolayer semiconducting tungsten disulfide, metallic graphene, and insulating boron nitride to fabricate numerous red channel lightemitting devices (LEDs). All the 2D crystals were grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), which has great potential for future industrial sca… Show more

“…It has the relatively high carrier mobility, [ 22 ] large exciton binding energy, [ 23 ] large spin–orbit splitting, [ 24 ] and strong photoluminescence (PL). [ 25 ] These properties make it idle for a wide range of applications, such as transistors, [ 26 ] photodetectors, [ 27 ] light‐emitting devices (LEDs), [ 28 ] etc. Despite the fact that there are numerous reports focused on the synthesis, properties, and applications of 2D WS 2 , there is still a lack of the comprehensive review on 2D WS 2 .…”

“…have exhibited extraordinary properties in many elds, emerging as suitable candidates for next-generation electronic or photoelectronic systems beyond the current silicon era. [9][10][11][12][13] The surprising and appealing characteristics found in the low-dimensional limit stimulate the exploration of other van der Waals layered materials. [14][15][16] Nowadays, various layered semiconductors can be prepared via top-down (e.g.…”
