“…Total fruit yield plant -1 is one of the most important breeding objectives in any crop improvement program. In the current study, six, one and one hybrids showed significant positive MPH, BPH and SCH, respectively for total fruit yield plant -1 under Y1, whereas six and one hybrids expressed MPH and BPH under Y2, and six and one hybrids depicted MPH and BPH [42]. Sharma and coauthors [43] reported that the F1 hybrids namely Rani Sel-1 × SSP, Rani Sel-1 × Sel-12-2-1, SSP × SP-316 and PRC-1 × California Wonder showed significant better parent and standard heterosis for marketable fruit yield plant -1 in bell pepper.…”

“… 43 A previous study in hot pepper proved that the heterosis could beneficially be enhanced and improved the fruit weight and fruit yield per plant. 44 The previous researcher revealed that the heterosis to the best parent of 15 intervarietal hybrids of Manzano hot pepper could yield more fruits, improve fruit quality, increase the number of seeds per fruits, seed weight, and locule number. 45 Likewise, the cross-hybridization between Asian and Ethiopian parents’ plants could significantly improve the number of fruits per plant, dry fruit yield per plant, and the days to maturity.…”

“…A report of the GCA effect for this trait is also in agreement with previous workers (Dahake and Bangar, 2006; Kumar et al ., 2012). The SCA effect determines the performance of a testcross combination and the role of non-additive gene action for the prediction of the heterotic potential of the hybrids (Aditika et al ., 2020). It was observed that most of the cross combinations which exhibited high significant SCA effect in desirable direction consists of at least one good combiner parents like hybrid DOV-92 (good) × Pusa Bhindi-5 (poor) for plant height and DOV-64 (good) × Pusa Bhindi- 5 (poor) for fruit diameter selected as best hybrid combination based on both SCA and mean value (online Supplementary Table S9).…”
