“…The ratio of I 1460 /I 1380 is used to evaluate the length of alkyl side chains of aromatic molecules. 50 I 1460 and I 1380 are the peak intensities of the methylene group (∼1460 cm −1 ) and the methyl group (∼1380 cm −1 ), respectively. The I Ar and I 1460 / I 1380 ratio are 0.53 and 1.03 for HPC 1/3 , respectively, suggesting that HPC 1/3 possesses a relatively larger aromatic nucleus and longer side chains.…”

“…As a semiquantitative method, the aromaticity index ( I Ar ) is often used to reveal the degree of aromatization, which is calculated according to eq S1 shown in the Supporting Information. The ratio of I 1460 / I 1380 is used to evaluate the length of alkyl side chains of aromatic molecules …”

“…Until now, carbon materials are regarded as the primary choice to assemble flexible SC electrodes because of high chemical inertness, good conductivity, large specific surface, and easy accessibility. , Diverse precursors, such as biomass, polymer, and coal-based materials, have been used for fabricating carbon materials. Owing to the combined features of low-cost, high carbon content, and natural abundance, coal-based materials have drawn considerable attention in recent years. Among these coal-based materials, thermoplastic pitch, as a byproduct of the coal coking industry, with various kinds of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is harmful to the environment but also advantageous when used as a precursor to fabricate carbonaceous materials because of the virtue of high carbon yield and considerably low cost . Layered-porous carbon, honeycomb-like carbon nanosheets, and graphene nanocapsules derived from pitch have been fabricated for SC application.…”

“…R520 is composed of alternating layers as shown in Figure 1 e. Similar structures can be seen in the literature, prepared at higher carbonization temperatures [14, 21] . The unique laminated structure is beneficial to improve the electrochemical performance of the material, owing to its promoting effect for lithium ion intercalation and deintercalation.…”

“…prepared a pitch‐based porous carbon with stacked layers through a complicated multi‐step synthesis including sulfonation and heat treatment (700 °C) [14] . It has been demonstrated that pitch can be transformed into laminated nanostructures through a thermal process in excess of 700 °C [21] . The transformation under these thermal conditions is attributed to the release of small molecules and the plane adjustment of large molecules formed by the polymerization of aromatic rings in the pitch.…”
