Objective: To analyze the association between the presence of stress in nursing students and sociodemographic and academic vulnerabilities. Methods: Analytical research conducted with 455 nursing students, whose data were obtained by means of a questionnaire to identify sociodemographic and academic vulnerabilities, and by the Lipp's Stress Symptoms Inventory. The association between variables was tested by Pearson's chi-square (p <0.05), the strength of this association by odds ratio, and logistic regression (backward method) was used to fit the model. Results: Among all students, 64% presented stress with the following associated factors: sex (p <0.010), age group (p <0.029), marital status (p <0.001), children (p <0.001), occupational status (p <0.001), cost of education (p <0.009) and current study period (p <0.001). In the final model these factors remained: sex, marital status and current study period. Conclusion: Women, students with partners, and those in the senior year of college were more likely to present stress. ResumoObjetivo: Analisar a associação entre a presença de estresse em estudantes de enfermagem e vulnerabilidades sociodemográficas e acadêmicas. Métodos: Pesquisa analítica, realizada com 455 acadêmicos de Enfermagem cujos dados foram obtidos por meio de um questionário para identificar vulnerabilidades sociodemográficas e acadêmicas e pelo Inventário de Sintomas de Stress de Lipp. A associação entre as variáveis foi testada pelo qui-quadrado de Pearson (p<0,05), a força dessa associação pela razão de chance, sendo a regressão logística (método backward) utilizada para ajuste do modelo. Resultados: Do total de discentes, 64% apresentou estresse, tendo como fatores associados: sexo (p<0,010), faixa etária (p<0,029), situação conjugal (p<0,001), presença de filhos (p<0,001), situação ocupacional (p<0,001), custeio dos estudos (p<0,009) e ano em curso (p<0,001), permanecendo no modelo final: sexo, situação conjugal e ano em curso. Conclusão: As mulheres, os estudantes com companheiro e aqueles no último ano da faculdade tiveram maiores chances de apresentar estresse.

Introduction: While attending in university have pleasant experiences for many students, academic activities will lead to academic burnout for some of them. Obviously, academic burnout will have negative effects on mental, psychological and physical well-being of students. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between quality of learning experiences and academic burnout among nursing students of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in 2015.Method: This descriptive-correlational study was conducted on 223 nursing students of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. The samples were selected by quota and then convenience sampling method, and demographic and educational questionnaires, Newman's quality of learning experience questionnaire and Bersow's academic burnout inventory were completed by subjects. Data were analyzed by descriptive and analytical methods such as correlation coefficient, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA and multiple linear regression. Results:The results showed a significant negative correlation between the quality of learning experiences and academic burnout (r = -0.18; p: 0.006), and the subscales of these two variables, with the most relationship was found between lack of academic interest and the content of the curriculum (r = -0.22; p: 0.001). By entering the main and underlying variables to multivariate linear regression model in step-by-step method, the student's interest in the field of study before entering the university and the mean score were known as the explanatory factor for academic burnout. Conclusion: Academic burnout of students can be influenced by the quality of their learning experiences. But this connection may indirectly be influenced by underlying factors such as academic performance and general interest in the field.

Síndrome de Burnout entre mestrandos e doutorandos em enfermagem

Objective: To investigate the occurrence of burnout syndrome and to identify its predictors in master's and doctoral students of graduate nursing programs. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive, analytic study performed with 129 master's and doctoral students from three public universities. The research instruments were a semi-structured questionnaire to characterize the participants, and the Maslach Burnout InventoryTM -Student Survey. Data were analyzed using descriptive, inferential statistics and multiple linear regressions. Results: It was found that 11.6% of postgraduate students had signs of burnout. The variables related to their perception about the course and its requirements were those that contributed most to the occurrence of the dimensions of the syndrome. The main predictors were: dissatisfaction with the study topic, lower perceptions of social support, and leisure opportunities. Conclusion: There were signs of burnout syndrome occurring in the studied sample; the course's requirements played a relevant role among the syndrome predictors. ResumoObjetivo: Investigar a ocorrência da síndrome de Burnout e identificar seus preditores entre mestrandos e doutorandos de Programas de Pós-Graduação em Enfermagem. Métodos: Estudo transversal analítico-descritivo realizado com 129 mestrandos e doutorandos de três universidades públicas. Os instrumentos de pesquisa foram: um questionário semiestruturado para caracterização dos participantes e o Maslach Burnout Inventory TM -Student Survey. Os dados foram analisados por estatística descritiva, inferencial e regressão linear múltipla. Resultados: Constatou-se que 11,6% dos pós-graduandos possuíam indicativo para a síndrome de Burnout. As variáveis relacionadas à percepção deles sobre o curso e suas exigências foram as que mais contribuíram para a ocorrência das dimensões da síndrome. Insatisfação com o tema de pesquisa, menores percepções de apoio social e das oportunidades de lazer foram os principais preditores. Conclusão: Houve indicativo do desenvolvimento da síndrome de Burnout na amostra pesquisada e as exigências do curso tiveram papel relevante entre os preditores da síndrome.
