An increasing number of academic scholars have been espousing a decolonial stance, seeking to address the so-called coloniality of power/knowledge. Yet, this path is far from cleared in critical management research and education, where we find a substantial number of studies bringing post-colonial arguments to the debate, but very few engaging with decolonial thinking. In this essay, we highlight the contribution of Paulo Freire to the decolonial debate through the concept of metodologia otra, a notion that questions the hegemony of Western-based methodologies and challenges the modern/colonial matrix by carving out spaces for those who have suffered a long history of oppression and marginalization to communicate from their own frames of reference. We argue that more than being critical, reflexive, or dialogical, a concrete engagement with decoloniality means mobilizing radical principles such as learning to unlearn, escrevivência, interculturality, and corazonar/sentipensar. Although Freire’s contribution to the construction of metodologia otra was original and pivotal, this contribution is poorly known. By salvaging Freire’s contribution in this special issue, we move decolonial concepts and values from the margins to the center of postcolonial debates within critical management studies and critical management education communities.

En este artículo, reflexionamos sobre la urgencia de decolonizar las ciencias sociales. Es necesario crear formas “otras” de pensar, sentir y existir, lo cual requiere la configuración de nuevos tipos de conocimiento y nuevas “ciencias”, cuya estructura categorial se sustente en el saber del otro, considerado inferior, y no solo en la episteme del logos moderno/colonial, considerado superior. Caracterizamos el hacer decolonial, que se despliega mediante sus acciones/huellas constitutivas: contemplar comunal, conversar alterativo y reflexionar configurativo, las cuales caracterizan la vocación decolonial, que permite el desprendimiento de la metodología de investigación.

De manera crítica, se estudia el sistema alimentario transgénico-transnacional de agronegocios. Aquel que trae consigo expoliación de los bienes comunes, creciente conflictividad socioambiental, y es responsable, cada vez más, de los efectos negativos, tanto en la salud de la población como del ambiente. El objetivo es comprender las tramas de dicho sistema desde su impacto territorial-ambiental en Córdoba, Argentina. Este análisis se realiza a partir de un acto de escucha a los distintos sujetos de lucha, a partir de la investigación-acción-participación, tejiendo redes de resistencias locales y contribuyendo en la comprensión de la realidad alimentaria y territorial. En asambleas de ciudadanos, los productores-elaboradores de alimentos y las organizaciones alimentarias —como redes de compra y consumo—, buscaron visibilizar estrategias que, desde la agroecología, procuran desterritorializar el sistema alimentario transgénico de agronegocio. Se presentan los avances y nuevos desafíos en materia de prohibición a las fumigaciones, judicialización de luchas, crecimiento de circuitos cortos de comercio de alimentos agroecológicos y las múltiples territorialidades de organizaciones de base, que desde las sierras de Córdoba, aportan a la construcción de sistemas alimentarios nutricionales agroecológicos regionales, aquellos que se siguen tejiendo colectivamente para sanar con la tierra.
