Guidelines for Managing Sensors in Cyber Physical Systems with Multiple Sensors

Abstract: Cyber physical systems (CPSs) typically have numerous sensors monitoring the various physical processes involved. Some sensor failures are inevitable and may have catastrophic effects. The relational nature of the diverse measurands can be very useful in detecting faulty sensors, monitoring the health of the system, and reducing false alarms. This paper provides procedures on how one may integrate data from the various sensors, by careful design of a sensor relationship network. Once such a network has been ad… Show more

“…All this data must be fused (multiple measurands) to provide data to locate points of operation on all active maps and envelopes to enable real time decisions to be informed. Work on actuator sensor fusion is on-going but that for the vehicle's condition is only in its infancy [11][12][13][14][15]. 5.…”

“…The redundant sensors are the essential key to achieve high accuracy during operation for a long time [6]. Early sensor(s) fault detection contributes to the design of smart systems that enable the necessary tests to ensure system performance [7, 8]. The INS measures the acceleration and the angular velocity by the inertial sensors, and calculates the position, velocity and the attitude based on a navigation algorithm.…”
