Growth, saponin and nitrogen content of common plantain (Plantago major L.) tissue with gibberellic acid application (GA3)

Abstract: The aims of this research were to study application effect on growth, saponin content and tissue nitrogen of common plantain (Plantago major L.). P. major was one of plant which has potency as a medicinal plant. The addition of GA3 exogenous to the plant would cause GA3 binding with receptor protein in the plasma membrane region, which caused specific gene activation, so that specific RNA molecule formed, and would trigger one or more enzyme forming which regulate plant growth and influence protein synthesis a… Show more

“…The plant cells in these explants were stressed due to the very high salt concentration. The increase in the plant's dry weight is attributable to the nutrients that were absorbed by the root and the accretion of protoplasm due to the increase and size of the cell count (Khristyana et al 2005).…”

“…The average root lengths of the treatments in this study are shown in Table 4; they range from 1 cm to 3 cm with no influence between one treatment and another. The increase in plant size reflects the increase in protoplasm that occurs due to the increase in cell size and number (Khristyana et al 2005).…”

“…Pupuk Menyediakan Nitrogen yang Dibutuhkan Tanaman Bayam dan karena itu memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap berat kering. Menurut penelitian (Lya Khristyana, Endang Anggarwulan, 2005), Giberelin pada konsentrasi 75 ppm paling baik untuk menambah berat kering tanaman daun sendok.…”

“…The agarwood leaves from Hutanabolon were taken from trees with a diameter of less than 10 cm, which is the pole phase, where the tree has not reached maturity for diameter, a mature tree has at least 20 cm in diameter. The growth rate can increase the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, since one secondary metabolite is a saponins compound (Khristyana et al 2005) Steroids/triterpenoids Phytochemical screening results revealed that agarwood leaves simplicia and EEAL from Laru Village positively contain steroid/triterpenoid compounds. However, it is only agarwood leaves simplicia from Hutanabolon Village which positively contains steroid/triterpenoid compounds.…”
