Growth of Less than 20 nm SnO Nanowires Using an Anodic Aluminum Oxide Template for Gas Sensing

Abstract: Stannous oxide (SnO) nanowires were synthesized by a template and catalyst-free thermal oxidation process. After annealing a Sn nanowires-embedded anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template in air, we obtained a large amount of SnO nanowires. SnO nanowires were first prepared by electrochemical deposition and an oxidization method based on an AAO template. The preparation of SnO nanowires used aluminum sheet (purity 99.999%) and then a two-step anodization procedure to obtain a raw alumina mold. Finally, transparent… Show more

“…Metal wires are used for transparent conductive electrodes 6,7) to realize organic solar cells. 8,9) Currently, there are three methods for fabricating thin metal wires: electron beam (EB) lithography followed by a metal deposition lift-off process, 10) EB or FIBassisted metal positioning, 11) and application of an EB resist on the metal with EB drawing followed by dry etching of the metal using a nanopattern resist as a mask. 12) These fabrication methods have disadvantages such as time-consuming EB drawing and the requirement of numerous sub-processes.…”
