“…In addition, more or less similar PL peak positions can also be assigned to the cerium self absorption. The observed excitation and emission features corroborate well with the results reported earlier for the triclinic GPS except for slight shifts towards higher wavelengths [17,18,25,35]. This may arise due to the presence of GSAP [14] in trace amounts and also changes in the synthesis and processing parameters for our samples.…”

“…It should be noted that triclinic Gd 2 Si 2 O 7 structure stands out in comparison to the orthorhombic Gd 2 Si 2 O 7 from the point of view of a possible Gd substitution by other ions. The rare earth cations in this lattice have different coordination numbers, while in orthorhombic modification the coordination number of the two basis atoms equals 7 impeding an isomorphic incorporation of rare earth cations with bigger ionic radii into this structure [22][23][24][25]. However, for the undoped and 2 mol% Ce doped GPS samples we could not observe any endothermic peak up to 1600°C.…”

“…Figure 2 presents the powder XRD patterns of all the samples including the undoped GPS for reference (COD 9011106). All the samples had a diffraction pattern similar to the reference, and no impurity phase from the Gd 2 O 3 -SiO 2 phase diagram (32) was detected. Figure 3 presents PL emission spectra of all the Pr:GPS samples observed upon 280 nm excitation.…”

“…Recently, new scintillators with a crystal structure of pyrosilicate group have been studied due to good light output [3]. Among them, Ce-doped Gd 2 Si 2 O 7 (Ce:GPS) was found to have good light output compared with other oxide scintillators such as Ce:Gd 2 SiO 5 [4][5][6][7][8][9], while the composition Gd 2 O 3 Á2SiO 2 is not congruent in the Gd 2 O 3 -SiO 2 system [10]. Kawamura et al reported that the GPS phase can be stabilized by heavy Cedoping (approximately, 10 mol%) [5].…”
