Scintillation Characteristics of Pr-doped Gd2Si2O7 Single Crystal

Abstract: Pr-doped gadolinium pyrosilicate, which had a composition of Gd 2 Si 2 O 7 , was synthesized by the floating zone method with different Pr concentrations from 0.1 to 2.0 mol%. After confirming the crystal phase by X-ray diffraction analysis, photoluminescence (PL) and scintillation properties were investigated. PL emission spectra showed a broad emission peak at 340-360 nm due to Pr 3+ 5d-4f transition, and decay times were around 9-12 ns.
