One of the developmental task of teenager at senior high school is to determine their future career choice. The present research aimed to examine the effect of career planning training on studens's career decision making self efficacy (CDMSE). This study that involved 36 vocational high school students from two class of administrasi perkantoran department in SMK Negeri 1 Bantul Yogyakarta. Subjects were divided into two groups as experiment group and control group through cluster random sampling. Data was collected using CDMSE scale and was analyzed by Anova Mixed Design. Results showed that there was a significant increasing of CDMSE on experiment group and insignificant ones in control group after training was given. Career planning training was effective to increase student's career decision masking self-efficacy. Discussions and recommendations are discussed further.

ResumoEste trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar o construto autoeficácia para escolha profissional, a partir da apresentação da Teoria Social Cognitiva (TSC) e de sua aplicação ao contexto das decisões de carreira. Além disso, também aborda o percurso de sua aplicação ao campo do desenvolvimento de carreira no contexto mais amplo da Teoria Social Cognitiva do Desenvolvimento de Carreira (TSCDC). Em seguida, o conceito de autoeficácia para escolha profissional é explorado, sendo apresentadas várias pesquisas realizadas no contexto estrangeiro. Conclui-se que o construto, embora carente de mais divulgação no Brasil, tem obtido espaço no meio científico nacional e pode se constituir como uma importante ferramenta de compreensão, planejamento e avaliação do processo de escolha profissional.Palavras-chave: Orientação vocacional; Teoria Social Cognitiva; desenvolvimento de carreira; avaliação psicológica. AbstractThis paper aims to present the concept of professional choice self-efficacy by discussing Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) and its application to the context of career decisions. It also addresses the course of its application in the field of career development in the broader context of Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT). The concept of professional choice self-efficacy is also explored, including several international studies. It is concluded that the construct, although lacking dissemination in Brazil, has had some space in national scientific discussions, and can become an important tool to understand, plan and evaluate the process of career choice.

Career maturity is defined as the maturity in terms of career decision making, reflected through individual attitudes and competencies. Preliminary studies showed that many 12 th grade students found difficulties in selecting their university majors. This suggests that many 12 th grade students still lacks career maturity. PLANS training was given to 11 th grade students of N tutoring agency with the goal of improving their career maturity. We hypothesize that PLANS training will increase the career maturity of these students. The experiment used an Untreated Control Group Design with Dependent Pretest and Posttest Samples. In this study, the independent variable is PLANS training, while the dependent variable is career maturity. Thirty students, divided equally into experimental and control group, were involved as participants. The instruments include attitude and competence career maturity scale. ANOVA analysis finding shows a significant change of career maturity scores from pretest to posttest scores in the experimental group. Meanwhile, no significant change was detected from the control group. The contribution of this training is equal to 40.4% in the attitude domain and 62.5% in the competence domain. Our findings show that "PLANS" training can significantly improve the career maturity of high school students.
