Green synthesis of nitrogen-doped self-assembled porous carbon-metal oxide composite towards energy and environmental applications

Abstract: Increasing environmental pollution, shortage of efficient energy conversion and storage devices and the depletion of fossil fuels have triggered the research community to look for advanced multifunctional materials suitable for different energy-related applications. Herein, we have discussed a novel and facile synthesis mechanism of such a carbon-based nanocomposite along with its energy and environmental applications. In this present work, nitrogen-doped carbon self-assembled into ordered mesoporous structure… Show more

“…6B(V) corresponds to pyridinic, pyrrolic and graphitic nitrogen respectively. 38,43 The presence of the Fe 3 O 4 in the nano Fe-CNB is conrmed due to the coexistence of Fe 3+ and Fe 2+ of Fe (2p 3/2 ) at binding energies 710.85 eV and 724.02 eV as observed in Fig. 6B(VI), whereas the presence of Fe 2 O 3 is attributed to peak at binding energies 714.47 eV for Fe 3+ oxidation state of Fe (2p 3/2 ).…”

“…Melamine consists of molecules like N–H···N bonds arranged in planar sheets, which are connected with HCO 3 – anions originating from bicarbonates forming bonds like N–H···O. 20 The self-assembly of porous sheets is promoted by sodium bicarbonate. 21 The sodium bicarbonate and glucose decompose at a high temperature, liberating CO 2 and H 2 O that lead to the formation of a porous network in the sample.…”
