Green Synthesis and Characterization of Silver Nanoparticles Using Flaxseed Extract and Evaluation of Their Antibacterial and Antioxidant Activities

Abstract: Bioactive plant chemicals are considered to be rich and useful for creating nanomaterials. The current work investigated the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using ethanolic flaxseed extract as an efficient reducing factor. The production of AgNPs was verified by color-shifting observation of the mixture of silver nitrate (AgNO3) from yellow to a reddish suspension after the addition of the extract and by evaluating it by UV–visible inspection. Additionally, FTIR spectrum was used to support the id… Show more

“…Reactive oxygen species (ROS) depletion-based therapeutics like CMFE may help to reduce inflammation and facilitate a smooth transition from the inflammatory to the proliferative phase of the cell cycle. According to earlier research, natural antioxidants such as plant flavonoids may prevent free radical chain reactions or scavenge ROS to reduce the oxidation of cellular components and promote cell development [ 51 ]. The specific mechanisms by which CMFE stimulates the production of fibroblast growth factor and cell proliferation are still unknown.…”

“…According to Khane Y. et al (2022), which highlighted the antioxidant potential of phenolic compounds and flavonoids with Citrus Lemon Zest, [14] extraction and successful production have been achieved. Again with the study of Alzubaidi et al(2023) using Flaxseed extract, [15] important phenolic compounds are extracted for particle synthesis; in our research hazelnut husk was used which is rich in phenolic components. Just as that example study achieved successful antibacterial silver particle synthesis through chemical reduction, our work also extends this success to hazelnut husk extract.…”

“…have demonstrated their potentials in application for removal of pharmaceuticals in wastewater . The most popular source of silver ions is silver nitrate (AgNO 3 ) because it easily and quickly produces nanoparticles and with a high yield of nanoparticles . Due to their exceptional plasmonic activity, a broad spectrum of antibacterial activities, chemical stability, high thermal and electrical conductivity, and catalytic capabilities, silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) have drawn a lot of attention among other types of metal nanoparticles .…”
