Global liposome research in the period of 1995–2014: a bibliometric analysis

Abstract: In this study, we aim to evaluate the global scientific output of liposome research, and try to find an approach to quantitatively and qualitatively assess the current global research on liposome. Data were based on the science citation index expanded database, from the Institute of Scientific Information Web of Science database. Bibliometric method was used to analyze publication outputs, journals, countries/territories, institutions, authors, research areas, research hotspots and trends. Globally, there were… Show more

“…Keywords were identified and analyzed using strong citation bursts (Figure 7) to explore the frontiers of research. We depicted the time intervals a blue line and the time period that represents a burst keyword category as a red line, indicating the beginning and the end of the time interval of each burst [13]. As shown in Figure 7, the keywords that had strong bursts after 2014 were "bk channel" "blood pressure" "oxidative stress" "disease", "identification", "action potential" and "electrophysiology".…”

“…Although most of the bibliometric studies are currently performed in the area of scientometrics or social science [19,20], some researchers have made similar attempts in the field of biomedicine. For example, Shuaib et al investigated the top 100 papers in the area of cardiovascular research [21], and Zhou et al critically analyzed studies on liposomes from 1995 to 2014 [22]. In this study, we aimed to use bibliometric methods to analyze manuscripts on the Wnt signaling pathway in liver diseases.…”

“…Table 12 presents the top 16 keywords with the strongest citation bursts, along with the strength and occurrence timespan. The time interval is plotted on the blue line and the period of a burst keyword is plotted on the red line, which indicate the beginning and end of the time interval of each burst [93]. According to Table 12, the most recent two keywords are shown as follows:…”
