“…Such electronic con"guration induces high linear and nonlinear optical indices as a consequence of the hyperpolarizability of the thallium oxygen entities. For example, the rich thallium glasses of the TeO }Tl O system exhibit the highest optical nonlinear index reported presently for oxide glasses (2). Furthermore Tl PO was investigated as an optical second harmonic generator (3).…”

“…3 Furthermore, Te-Tl glass is considered a potential new glass for photonic devices. 4 In this case, knowledge of the phase diagram and possible calculations of higherordered systems are very useful. The Te-Tl system has been thermodynamically modeled; 5 however, in that work, the ionic liquid model was used.…”

“…Sugimoto N [4] et al reported third-order susceptibility χ (3) as large as 9.3×10 -12 esu in Bi 2 O 3 -B 2 O 3 -SiO 2 glass system by third harmonic generation method;Hasegawa T [5] et al obtained the real part of the nonlinear susceptibility Re(χ (3) ) at 748 nm in bismuth glasses by Z-scan method, and its value was 4.9×10 -11 esu. To obtain larger optical nonlinearities, Bi 2 O 3 -based glasses are often reinforced by addition of either a second lone pair holder (such as Te 4+ , Pb 2+ ) or cations with empty d orbital (such as W 6+ , Ti 4+ , Nb 5+ [6][7][8][9] ). Taking into account these points, it can be expected that the Bi 2 O 3 -B 2 O 3 -WO 3 glass system would offer excellent third-order nonlinear optical properties.…”
