Gender identity in schizophrenia

Abstract: Sprawdzenie w jaki sposób osoby chorujące na schizofrenię przeżywają siebie w kontekście płci i jaki wpływ ma to na ich funkcjonowanie. Przegląd literatury dostępnej w PubMed, PsycNET i Google Scholar. Zgłębianie problematyki tożsamości płci w schizofrenii powinno uwzględniać wymiar zarówno osobisty, jak i społeczny funkcjonowania chorych. “…Stusiński and Lew-Starowicz [2] distinguished 4 mechanisms which have an impact on gender identification problems caused by schizophrenia: (1) identity problems as a stressor which can cause schizophrenia symptoms to appear; (2) identity problems as a consequence of schizophrenia; (3) the common neurobiological background of schizophrenia and gender dysphoria; (4) the influence of schizophrenia-specific defi-cits of mental functions on gender identity.
